Mountain West Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
- After recording her third shutout in four matches, San José State women's soccer junior goalkeeper Zoe Makrigiannis was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, respectively. The weekly award marks the first for San José State this season, and is also the first career weekly award for Makrigiannis.

In the Spartans lone match of the weekend, the Surrey, B.C., Canada native stood strong in net once again for the blue and gold making a match-high four saves in San José State's 1-0 win over Portland State on Sunday, September 21.

In the Spartans last 400 minutes of play, Makrigiannis has allowed just one goal. On the season, the junior keeper leads the Mountain West in goals against average (0.61), save percentage (.865), shutouts (4), and shutouts per game (0.50)

Riding a four game unbeaten streak, the San José State Spartans will open Mountain West play with a pair of home matches beginning on Friday, September 26, as the Spartans will host preseason favorite San Diego State at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 28, against New Mexico at 12:00 p.m. at Spartan Soccer Field.
