San Jose--Two Spartans recorded 20+ kills in a match for the first time this season, but San Jose State fell to Air Force, 3-1 (25-18, 34-32, 20-34, 25-16) Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West match at Spartan Gym.

Tyanna Roy led all hitters with a career-high 23 kills. She hit a season-best .408 for the match with 49 attempts and just three hitting errors. Nandyala Gama added a season-best 20 kills.

San Jose State recorded a season-high 10 service aces in the match as four players recorded two aces - Sara Hibbs, Kiely Pieper, McKenzie Palassou and Allison Meehan.

Defensively, Yavianliz Rosado led the Spartans with 22 digs, while Palassou added 11. Jessica Oneto led the team with five block assists, while Sara Hibbs and Kalie Matthews each had three blocks.

After Air Force won the first set 25-18 in convincing fashion, San Jose State battled back in the second set. The score was tied 16 times, while the lead changed 10 times. There were 10 set points between the two teams, four for the Spartans and six for Air Force, before the Falcons won 34-32.

The third set was similar to second, except San Jose State won 32-30. The lead changed hands eight times, and the teams tied the score 20 times. A Hibbs ace and a Falcon attack error gave the Spartan the set win.

San Jose State goes on the road next Saturday for a Mountain West match at Fresno State. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
