SAN JOSE, Calif. (9/29/14) - The San José State women's soccer team will begin its four game skid away from Spartan Soccer Field with a weekend in Nevada. The Spartans will visit the Wolf Pack of Nevada on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. before a battle with UNLV Sunday, Oct. 5. Match time is slated for 10:30 a.m. PT.
LAST TIME OUT
San José, Calif. (9/28/14) - Darlene Rodriguez picked the perfect time for her first career goal as the San José State women's soccer team fought for a 1-1 draw against New Mexico Sunday at Spartan Soccer Field.
In the 30th minute the Lobos went after goalkeeper Zoe Makrigiannis after a saved Dylann O'Connor shot. Makrigiannis could not control the shot as the ball deflected off her hands and into the foot of Cassie Hanson to give the Lobos the advantage.
After controlling possession for majority of the second half, Rodriguez was in perfect position after a blocked Alexis Venegas shot. The junior placed a perfect ball into the upper right corner of the net to beat the Lobo goalkeeper for the match equalizer.
In extra time, New Mexico outshot San José, 4-2, but Makrigiannis remained strong in net for the Spartans making pivotal saves as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

SCOUTING NEVADA
Nevada enters the weekend with an overall record of 3-7-1, and 0-2-0 in the Mountain West. The Wolf Pack are led by junior Daisha Jones-Oglesby and freshman Angel Meriwether. Meriwether leads the team with seven points (3g, 1a), while Jones-Oglesby is right behind the frosh with five points (1g, 3a).
San José State leads the all-time series with Nevada, 10-5-1, while the Wolf Pack have won the previous two meetings. Last season, Nevada escaped with a 2-1 victory at Spartan Stadium. Nevada scored their game-winning goal in the 35th minute. After Mackenzie Henke's shot ricocheted off of starting goalkeeper Sarah Peplinski's farside post, Erin Saxton collected the rebound and deposited it into Peplinski's net for the 2-1 lead.
SCOUTING UNLV
UNLV comes into the weekend boosting a 6-3-1 overall record, and 1-1-0 in the conference. In its most recent match the Rebels fell to Wyoming, 3-0. Redshirt junior Denali Murnan and sophomore Jordan Magnin lead the Rebels. Murnan leads the team with 8 points (2g, 4a), her four assist are tied for the top spot in the conference. Magnin sits in second on the team with six points (2g, 2a).
San José State trails the all-time series, 2-1-0. The Rebels took the first two meetings, but the Spartans snapped the win-streak with a 1-0 double OT victory at Spartan Stadium in 2013. Lupita Estrada, scored her fourth goal of the season to give SJSU its first Mountain West win with the 105th the minute golden-goal.
SPARTAN DEFENSE
Through ten games, the Spartans have shutout four of its eight opponents, allowing just seven goals. The .671 goals-against average is tops in the Mountain West and ranks 41st nationally.
Makrigiannis leads the Mountain West in shutouts (4) and is second in save percentage (.857) and goals-against average (0.671).
ROAD SPARTANS
San José State will carry a four game unbeaten streak into Nevada this weekend. The Spartans have not lost on the road since its 1-0 defeat on Aug. 28 at UC Davis.
