Pacific Palisades, Calif. ----- After staging an upset on the first day of qualifying doubles play at the 2014 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, San José State University’s Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey came up just short in second-round action.
The sophomore duo, needing two wins to advance to the tournament’s main draw, dropped a tighty-contested 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-7 match to Florida’s Josie Kuhlman and Peggie Porter on Wednesday.
Up next for the Spartans is the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, which is hosted by Stanford University and runs from Oct. 10-14 in Stanford, Calif.
