Mountain West Names Cody Blick Co-Golfer Of The Month

Oct. 1, 2014

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- San José State men's golfer Cody Blick is the Mountain West's September Co-Golfer of the Month for September. It is the second MW Golfer of the Month award for Blick in his Spartan career. He shares the honor with New Mexico's Gavin Green.

The Danville, Calif., native recorded two top-three results in September, which included a runner-up finish at the Wolverine Intercollegiate in Ann Arbor, Mich., (9/6-7) and a third place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa (9/14-16). Blick finished under par in five out of six rounds during the month, and ended with a 69.8 stroke average.

The San Ramon Valley High School graduate poured in 22 birdies, and cashed in a 97-yard shot for eagle on a par four during the opening round of the Wolverine Intercollegiate. Blick carded a 6-under 207 (70-68-69) at the Wolverine, and backed that up by shooting a 4-under 212 (73-71-68) at Golfweek's Conference Challenge.

A 4-under 31 on the back-nine of the final round at the Golfweek Conference Challenge helped Blick to his third sub-70 round of the month.

Blick's stellar play during the month of September gives him San José State's lowest career-scoring average with the minimum of 30 rounds at 71.13 (32 rounds), surpassing Arron Oberholser at 73.03 (141 rounds).

Blick and the Spartans will wrap up the fall season with two events coming up in October: the Alister MacKenzie Invitational (10/13-14), and the Price's Give `Em Five Invitational (10/25-26).
