Napa, Calif. --- Mark Hubbard, who played his college golf at San José State, is on the move in the North Bay this week at the Frys.com Open at Silverado CC-North in his first event since earning a PGA Tour card.
He is currently two strokes off the lead at -8 heading into the weekend. He shot 71-65 in the first two rounds and is sitting in a tie for fourth place. Martin Laird holds the lead at -10, and Hubbard is ahead of a handful of top PGA Tour players including Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Lee Westwood and Brandt Snedeker.
Hubbard has moved up the professional golf ranks quickly. He spent one season on the Canadian Tour, followed by one season on the Web.com Tour before earning his PGA Tour card this past August.
