Freshman men's cross country runner Josue Gonzalez and senior women's golfer Megan Osland are the September Spartan Foundation Student-Athletes of the Month, presented by ScholarShare.
Gonzalez had an impressive 20th place finish in a field of 361 runners from around the country at the Stanford Invitational on September 27. The Arcadia, Calif., native clocked a 24:19 to lead the Spartans in the 8K event winding through the Stanford Golf Course. Gomzalez also placed 12th out of 57 earlier in the month at the Fresno State Invitational.
Osland captured her first-career tournament victory at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Classic. The Kelowna, British Columbia native won the event by seven shots, and helped the Spartans to a 24-stroke victory to open the 2014-15 women's golf season. Osland made nine birdies along the way and twice had the tournament's low round of the day in rounds two and three.
