Colorado State record: 7-1, 3-1 Mountain West. The Rams extended their winning streak to six in a row after hosting a 45-31 win over Wyoming in the 105th Border War. Colorado State's six-game winning streak is the longest among conference teams heading into games on November 1.

The Rams' last win in the series was a 55-20 victory on October 11, 1996 in Spartan Stadium - the only time in three visits to San Jose Colorado State left with the victory.

Frontrunners in the Mountain West: San José State and Colorado State are among the top two teams in their respective divisions within the Mountain West. The Spartans enter the weekend's play in second place with a 2-1 record and 0.5 games behind San Diego State in the West Division. San José State presently is in control of its destiny for a West Division championship and a berth in the Mountain West Championship game on Saturday, December 6. Colorado State is tied with Boise State for first in the Mountain Division with a 3-1 mark. The Rams lost at Boise State, 37-24, on September 6.

Defensive highlights: San José State heads into the Colorado State game ranked 22nd nationally in total defense yielding 336.7 yards per game. In their first three Mountain West games, the Spartans limited Nevada (256), UNLV (221) and Wyoming (277) to their season low total offense figures. UNLV gained its fewest yards in a game since a November 24, 2012 loss at Hawai'i when the Rebels gained 203 yards in a 48-10 loss.
