Seattle, Wash. - San José State men's soccer players Rory Knibbs and Jonathan Colunga were honored with 2014 All-Western Athletic Conference selection by a vote of the conference's 10 head coaches. Both student-athletes were second-team selections.
Knibbs, a striker from London, England, tied for the team lead and ranked second in the WAC in goals with nine. His 20 points were also good for second in the conference. The sophomore was one of three players who had two or more multi-goal games including a league-best hat trick against UMass (9/2) and he had two game-winning goals.
Colunga, sophomore from Lindsay, Calif., led the conference with eight assists, which was good for 13th in the nation. A transfer from CSU Bakersfield, Colunga's five assists in WAC play were good for second in the league. His 10 points ranked third on the team at the end of the regular season.
The Spartans open play in the 2014 WAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on Thursday, November 13 at 4:30 p.m. San José State, the fifth seed, plays fourth seed UMKC on Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.
