San Jose, Calif. - The San José State women's basketball program signed Breanna Calhoun to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Spartans beginning in the 2015-16 school year. Head Coach Jamie Craighead made the announcement.
Calhoun is a 5-7 point guard who attends Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, Calif. In each of the past two seasons she has led her team to the 2014 CIF Regional Finals and in 2013 to the CIF Division I State Championship. In those two seasons Bishop Alemany had a 57-13 record. Following last season, she earned first-team All-Mission League honors and was a second-team All-State Divison I selection by Cal-High Sports.
"Breanna is a true point guard," Craighead said. "We felt that with the loss of Chereese Thomas, after this year, we needed another strong player in that position. She is athletic and has a lot of speed. She's a good defender and can really push the ball in transition. For those reasons we feel she's the perfect fit for our system and how we want to play."
