SPARTANS TAKE ON CAL STATE FULLERTON SATURDAY

The San José State (1-2) men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season to face Cal State Fullerton (0-2) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22. Fans can watch the game live via the Big West Network, or listen to Justin Allegri and Joe Boylan on Stretch Internet radio and KLIV 1590 AM.

STAGNANT OFFENSE LEADS TO 63-44-LOSS TO PEPPERDINE

San José State trailed Pepperdine by four points with 17 minutes left in the second half before having a scoring drought that last nearly 10 minutes. The Waves went on a 20-5 run during that time and went on to win, 63-44. Frank Rogers finished with a game-high 11 rebounds and scored nine points. Rashad Muhammad also added nine points.

The Titans are coming off of a 67-59 loss to New Mexico (11/17), and are 0-2 to start the 2014-15 season. Moses Morgan put up 21 points against the Lobos to lead the team. Three starters from last season have returned including the second-leading scorer, Alex Harris (17.7 ppg). Cal State Fullerton ended last season with a 66-56 loss to Long Beach State in the Big West Tournament quarterfinals. The Titans are coached by Dedrique Taylor in his second season.

LAST MEETING WITH THE TITANS

The last meeting between the two teams ended with an 81-59 Spartans victory in the 2013-14 home opener in the Event Center. Rashad Muhammad led SJSU that night with 17 points. Cal State Fullerton has a 26-25 edge in the all-time series against San José State.

WILLIAMS DEFINES PRODUCTION INCREASE

Senior had the MW's fifth-largest increase in per game scoring last season, averaging 8.8 points more than he had in 2012-13. He also improved his rebounding by 4.3 per game, which was the third-largest improvement in the MW in 2013-14.

SPARTANS SIZE UP

The Spartans have added depth in the big-man department for the 2014-15 season. Freshmen Leon Bahner and Ryan Singer stand 6-foot-11 and 6-foot-9 respectively, while junior transfer Ivo Basor stands 6-foot-8. Frank Rogers, listed at 6-foot-9, is ready for action this year after redshirting the 2013-14 season. These players will join the seven-foot sophomore Matt Pollard in the Spartans' frontcourt.

TWO NEW COACHES JOIN WOJCIK'S STAFF

Mike Lepore and Tyler Ojanen joined the Spartans coaching staff beginning with the 2014-15 season. Lepore spent the last two years as the director of basketball operations at Saint Louis University when the Billikens had their best two-year stretch of success with a combined 55-14 record. Ojanen comes to the Spartans from Saint Mary's College where he was also the director of basketball operations from 2009-13. Ojanen made three trips to the NCAA Tournament and two NIT Tournaments with the Gaels.
