San Jose State Adds Immediate Defensive Line Help

Dec. 31, 2014

Loni Fa, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman from Mount San Antonio College, signed a National Letter-of-Intent with San Jose State University. Ron Caragher, the Spartans head coach, made the announcement.

Fa plans to enroll at San Jose State for the 2015 spring semester and be available for spring football practice.

The most recent Spartan signee played in 15 games for the Mounties that won the 2014 California Community College state championship and the 2013 Golden State Bowl. In eight of his contests, Fa was credited either with a tackle for loss or a quarterback sack and finished his community college career with 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 quarterback sacks. Ironically, two of his assisted sacks in his community college career were on pass plays involving Long Beach City College quarterback Kenny Potter, who signed a National Letter-of-Intent with San José State earlier in the month.

"We are excited about the addition of Loni Fa to the San Jose State University football program. He returns to the Bay Area after serving on a church mission and playing two years at Mt. SAC," says Caragher. " His presence, maturity and leadership will be a boost to our defensive line unit and our team."

Fa played his high school football at Ygnacio Valley High in Concord, Calif., during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He also lettered in basketball at the high school level.

Fa joins Potter and incoming freshmen Seth Collins, a quarterback from Granite Hills High in El Cajon, Calif., and linebacker Frank Ginda from Pacheco High in Los Banos, Calif., as San Jose State football mid-year signees.
