LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Daryl Gaynor II and Ryan Singer led San Jose State with eight points apiece as the Spartans fell to Utah State 61-33 in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams.

Ivo Basor pulled down 11 rebounds for the Spartans.

San Jose State shot just 15 percent in the first half and 20 percent overall.

Jalen Moore scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Utah State.

Chris Smith added 14 points for the Aggies (8-5, 1-0), which made 11 of 22 3-pointers.

The Spartans used a zone defense and slow offensive pace to begin the first half and led 10-8 with 12:49 to play, before a four-point play by Darius Perkins sparked a 13-0 run by the Aggies.

Utah State closed the first half with a 14-0 run, including three-consecutive 3-pointers by Moore, and led 35-12 at halftime.

The Spartans look to rebound versus Wyoming on January 3rd.
