San José, Calif.--San José State women's gymnast Cami Guyer won the all-around and finished third on the vault and floor to lead the Spartan women's gymnastics team against Stanford Friday night at The Event Center.
Guyer scored a 39.050 in the all-around for the win. She tied her career-best with a 9.800 on vault to finish third and added a 9.825 on floor for third place. Guyer also had a 9.750 on bars and a 9.675 on beam.
San José State scored a 193.175 for the meet as Stanford won with a 196.275. The Spartans started the meet strong on vault with a 48.675. Hannah Gilbert, Kaitlin Won and Rachel Heinl each scored a 9.750, while Alyssa Montalban had a 9.625 and Maddie Herr a 9.100.
The next two rotations found the Spartans counting falls on bars and beam to record a 47.900 on each apparatus. On bars, Heinl led the team with a 9.800, followed by Guyer at 9.750, Mackenzie Douglas at 9.700 and Marissa Unpingco at 9.600. Won had a 9.050, while Herr scored a 8.950.
On beam, Won started the rotation with a 9.700, and Amy Bellingham and Guyer each had a 9.675. Unpingco scored a 9.600, followed by Herr at 9.250 and Kiley Field at 8.950.
The Spartans ended the night with their best rotation as the team scored a 48.700 on floor. Guyer and Herr led the team at 9.825. Montalban scored a 9.750, followed by Field and Erica Matos at 9.650, and Douglas at 9.625.
San José State returns home next Friday, January 16, to host California and Wisconsin-La Crosse. The meet begins at 7 p.m., inside The Event Center, located on the corner of Seventh and San Carlos Streets.
