San Jose, Calif. - Sharon-Renae Estrada earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors (Feb. 5-8) after hitting .450 with five home runs, 15 RBI and scoring seven runs in six games this past weekend at the Kajikawa Classic. The announcement was made at the Mountain West's conference office on Tuesday.
Estrada, a senior out of Cajon High School in San Bernardino, Calif., was 9-for-20 at the plate as the Spartans finished the weekend in Tempe, Ariz., 4-2.
In the Spartans 14-6, five inning win over Seattle, Estrada was 3-for-4 with a career-high seven RBI and two homers, a two run shot in the first to stake the team to a 2-0 lead and a grand slam in the second in the second which made the score 8-3.
Estrada also drove in the game winning runs in the team's 9-8 win over BYU and its 10-7 victory over Utah Valley. Against Portland State, she hammered two more homers; the second broke a 4-4 tie and propelled the Spartans to an 8-5 win.
She finished the weekend with three multi-hit games. Seven of her nine hits were for extra bases and she drew five walks.
This is the first Mountain West Player of the Week honor for Estrada.
New Mexico's Lauren Soles was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week.
