San Antonio, Texas----- Freshman Cari Reiswig accounted for all of San Jose State University's scoring on the first day of the Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with her fourth-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition.
The freshman from Galt, Calif., posted a score of 284.15 for six dives in the eight-person final round. Reiswig was the #3-qualifier in the preliminary round with a 271.85 total.
"She performed very well. She had a great performance. Cari had a great morning and maintained great consistency this evening," San José State head coach Sage Hopkins said about Reiswig's first conference championship competition.
Nevada's Krysta Palmer won the event with a conference meet record 336.30.
San Jose State finished the night in tenth place with 15 points based on Reiswig's finish. The Spartans' 200 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams were disqualified for false starts according to the meet's electronic timing mechanism during their respective races.
"We had six swims that were lifetime bests. We had some of the finest relay splits in school history, especially on the medley relay," added Hopkins about the two relay events. "We are swimming very, very well."
Reiswig and her teammates continue championship action on February 19. The 200 freestyle relay, 3-meter diving, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle will be contested.
