Santa Clara, Calif. - After a pair of victories on day one of the 2015 Bronco Classic, the San José State softball team has reached double-digit wins in just 13 games.

"I thought we played really well today, especially our pitching," head coach Peter Turner said. "We limited our mistakes in the circle and got hitting up and down the line up."

Game 1 vs. Idaho State

The Spartans scored three runs in the bottom of the first with just one hit. Michelle Cox walked to open the inning followed by a Jessica Madrid single. Two batters later with runners on first and third and one out, Sharon-Renae Estrada walked to load them up.

In the fourth, a Hufstetler RBI-double scored Cox who had led off the inning with a single.

Entzminger and Lester singled around a Conchas walk to load the bases in the fifth. Two batters later, a Madrid groundout scored Entzminger making it an 8-1 ballgame.

Hufstetler (3-for-3, 3 RBI) banged out her third double of the game, which scored Schultz and Chelsea Jenner, who had reached on the earlier error. Alyssa Martinez then hit a sac fly to right which drove in Madrid and San José State was up 5-0.

Taylor Purdy blasted a solo shot to lead off the fifth for a 6-0 lead.

In the sixth, Illinois-Chicago finally decided it would be better to put Hufstetler on rather than pitch to her. Two batters later Martinez smacked a double to center and was followed by an Entzminger (0-for-2, 2 RBI) sac fly to right driving in the final run of the game.

Linford (2-1) scattered five hits, struck out five and walked two in pitching 6.2 innings for the win. Berlyn Rippentrop entered with two outs in the sixth to get the last out of the frame before Linford came back in to pitch the seventh.
