Montano Signs Contract To Play In The United Soccer League

San Jose, Calif. - Enrique Montano, who competed for the San Jose State men's soccer program from 2012-14, signed a contract to play for the Louisville City FC, a new professional soccer team that will kick off its inaugural season in late March.

"I am beyond excited," said Montano upon signing his first professional contract. "It's a great opportunity on a new brand new USL club. The speed of play will be quicker and the players will be substantially bigger. But I am ready for the challenge and the next phase of my soccer life."

Montano started 51 games in 53 appearances for the Spartans as a holding midfielder. In three seasons he scored two goals and assisted three more. Last season the 6-foot-1 Salinas, Calif., product produced 30 shot attempts while playing 1,359 minutes.

"We see so much potential in what Enrique will be able to bring to our club," said Louisville City head coach James O'Connor said. "W are happy to have signed him and know he will play a huge role in our success."

A member of the United Soccer League, Louisville City begins is 2015 campaign on March 28th at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Kentucky.
