The San José State women’s tennis team travels to the Midwest this weekend to play a pair of ranked opponents in No. 46 Illinois and No. 47 DePaul.

The Spartans ride a three-match win streak into the weekend after beating Sacramento State, San Francisco and Santa Clara for their first three wins of the spring.

San José State is 2-1 on the year when winning the doubles point and has been sparked by senior Jessica Willett, who has combined with Julianna Bacelar and Malin Cubukcu to post a 3-0 record since she entered the No. 3 spot in the doubles lineup at Sacramento State.

Abbie Pahz, Marie Klocker and Malin Cubukcu have each won their last three singles matches, mirroring the team’s record over that span. Julianna Bacelar has also been a steady force for the Spartans, posting a 2-1 record since moving to the No. 4 spot in the San José State lineup.

Like the Spartans, DePaul rides a three-match winning streak into the weekend and faces a ranked opponent Saturday, when they visit No. 52 Indiana. The Blue Demons’ duo of Jasmin Kling and Patricia Fargas is the No. 52 doubles tandem in the country and freshman Patricia Lancranjan is the 93rd-ranked singles player in the nation.

The Spartans dropped a 4-1 decision to the Blue Demons last January in College Station, Texas, as part of the 2014 ITA Kick Off.
