Football Schedule Features Six Home Games & Eight Post-Season Teams

March 2, 2015

Six home games and eight out 12 opponents that played in a post-season game from the previous season comprise the 2015 San Jose State University football schedule.

Five of the Spartans' six home opponents competed in a bowl game or in post-season play starting with 2014 Football Championship Subdivision semifinalist New Hampshire on Thursday, September 3. The Wildcats will make their first trip to the West Coast since a 2005 game at UC Davis.

San Jose State's remaining five home games are with Fresno State on the weekend of September 26; San Diego State, the weekend of October 17; New Mexico, the weekend of October 24; BYU on Saturday, November 7; and 2014 Mountain West champion Boise State the weekend of November 28.

New Mexico is making its first appearance in Spartan Stadium since 1998. The last time San Jose State and BYU met, the Spartans outlasted the Cougars, 20-14, on November 17, 2012. Boise State returns to Spartan Stadium for the first time since 2010 when both schools were Western Athletic Conference members.

"I'm glad to receive our 2015 season schedule. It is nice to be playing six home games again. We look forward to the rotation of playing the other three schools in the Mountain Division. Now, we can plan, practice, and prepare accordingly for the upcoming season," says San Jose State head coach Ron Caragher.

Unlike the last two seasons, San Jose State has only one bye week - the weekend of October 31 in between the New Mexico and BYU home games.

The Spartans open up Mountain West play the weekend of September 12 at Air Force, one of three teams along with New Hampshire and Boise State that won 10 or more games in 2014. San Jose State last played Air Force in 1997. Oregon State on September 19, Auburn on October 3, UNLV on the weekend of October 10, Nevada on the weekend of November 14 and Hawaii on the weekend of November 21 are the Spartans road opponents.

San Jose State's television assignments per the Mountain West's agreements with national broadcast partners CBS and ESPN will be announced at a later date.
