SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Jelan Kendrick had a career-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and Christian Wood scored 19 to go with 12 rebounds to help UNLV beat San Jose State 71-58 on Saturday night.

Kendrick added seven rebounds and six assists for UNLV (17-14, 8-10 Mountain West). Dwayne Morgan scored 11 and Jordan Cornish 10 for the Runnin' Rebels.

It was Wood's 18th double-double this season.

A layup from Jaleel Wilson gave San Jose State (2-28, 0-18) a 20-19 lead with six minutes left in the first half, but Wood hit a jumper which sparked a 12-2 run and UNLV took a 31-24 advantage into the break.

Williams, who led SJSU with 18 points, hit four 3-pointers in the first nine minutes of the second half, pulling the Spartans within 46-44, but UNLV scored 12 of the next 16 and San Jose State trailed by two possessions the rest of the way.
