Santee, Calif. - The New Mexico State Aggies pounded out 13 hits and scored 14 runs while limiting the San José State (19-11) to just two hits in a five-inning, 14-0 thrashing in the final game of the San Diego Classic.
New Mexico State's Fiana Finau hit a pair of three-run home runs, one in each of the first two innings, to get the route going. New Mexico State added another run in the second to take a 7-0 lead.
They got two runs more in the third before a grand slam in the fourth from Kelsey Dodd, part of a five-run inning, made it 14-0.
Katelyn Linford (2-3) was tagged with 10 runs in 4.2 innings. She gave up 12 hits and struck out three. Berlyn Rippentrop went one third of an inning and gave up one hit, three walks and four runs.
New Mexico State (22-9) pitcher Karista Donisthorpe pitched four innings in the win and allowed single hits from Jessica Madrid and Alyssa Martinez.
The Spartans open Mountain West action on Friday when they host Boise State in a three game set. All games start at 12:00 p.m. on SJSU Field.
