Kapalua, Maui-- My Leander and Regan De Guzman each recorded her second top-10 finish of the spring, and the San José State women's golf team finished sixth at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Hawaii.
Leander and De Guzman shot under-par final rounds on Wednesday. Leander had a one-under 71 to finish tied for seventh at 218. She was even through her first nine holes with two birdies and two birdies, before shooting one-under over the last nine holes - eight pars and a birdie on the par-5, 451-yard #15.
De Guzman had the low Spartan round of the day with a two-under 70 and finished the tournament tied for ninth at 219. She started her round on hole #2, making four pars, a birdie, four more pars, a birdie on #11, five pars, a birdie on #17, par on #18 and bogeyed her final hole.
Megan Osland placed in the top-20 as she finished the tournament with a 76 and tied for 19th at 221. After shooting even par for her first nine holes, the last nine holes found Osland making four bogeys including three consecutive (11-13) and no birdies.
Kathleen Rojas recorded a 79 in the final round and finished 50th at 234. Elizabeth Schultz finished tied for 51st at 235 after shooting an 83. Playing as an individual, Fanny Johansson tied for 72nd at 244 with a 78 in her last round.
San José State finished sixth in the team standings at 884 after shooting a 296 in the final round. The Spartans were five shots behind Oregon who shot an 879. UC Davis won the team title with a one-under 863.
The Spartans compete next at the Silverado Showdown on April 13 and 14 at the Silverado Country Resort and Country Club.
