Fairfax, Calif.--Senior Megan Osland continues to lead the San José State women's golf team as she shot a five-under 66 in the second round of the Bay Area Intercollegiate Monday at the Meadow Club in Fairfax. The Spartans ended the two rounds tied for sixth place with Colorado at 588.

Osland is currently seventh in the individual standings after shooting a two-under 140 on the par 71, 6,050-yard course. She started the day shooting a three-over 74 in the first round, followed by one of the best rounds in school history. She moved up 24 spots in the standings between the first and second rounds.

In her first round, Osland made back-to-back birdies and was one-under through her first six holes and even over her first 10 holes. But over her final 8 holes (#1-8), she was +3 to finish at 74.

The second round was a different story for Osland. Starting on #9, she made a birdie on #11 and was one-under through10 holes. Then, birdies on four of her final eight holes (#1, 3, 4, 8) gave her a five-under 66 for the round.

"Megan's second round helped salvage an otherwise up and down day," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "Her short game was awesome in the second round."

The Spartans shot a 299 in the first round and rebounded with a 289 in the second round. Regan De Guzman led the team in the first round with a 73, followed by Osland and My Leander who each shot 74. Kathleen Rojas shot 78, while Elizabeth Schultz rounded out the scoring with a 79.

In the second round, Osland led the team with the 66. Rojas improved her score by five shots to 73 and is tied for 43rd at 151. Schultz also improved in the second round with a 73 and is tied for 45th at 152. De Guzman shot a 77 and is tied for 35th at 150. Leander added an 80 and is tied for 54th at 154.

"The rest of the team has to find some consistency in all aspects of their game. Hopefully, that consistency shows itself in the final round," said Dormann.

Fanny Johansson is playing as an individual at the tournament. She is tied for 45th at 152 after shooting 78 and 74 in the two rounds and making four birdies in the second round.

Top-ranked Washington leads the tournament at 12-under, 555. Oregon is second at two-under, 566. The Spartans are just five shots away from fifth place UC Riverside at 583.

Colorado's Esther Lee leads the individual standings at eight-under 134. She shot a four-under 67 in each round. Five players are tied for second a four-under, and then Osland is seventh at two-under 140.

Final round action begins Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start.
