Dominic Urrutia, a graduate assistant in the San José State University Athletics Media Relations Department, has been named as one of 20 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Convention Grant Recipients.
Urrutia will be attending his first CoSIDA convention with the awarding of the grant.  The annual convention will be held June 14-17 at the Marriott Orlando World Center.  As part of receiving the grant, Urrutia will be recognized at one of the convention awards luncheons, help the CoSIDA Convention Operations Committee with on-site duties and provide written reviews of their experience following the convention.
The Convention Grant Attendance Program awards 20 grants worth $800 apiece.  Each grant includes complimentary convention registration, allowing all of the grant funds to go towards hotel nights, transportation and per diem.
Urrutia is in his seventh year in the San José State Athletic Media Relations Department.  He started as a student assistant in 2008, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism in 2013.  Urrutia is in his second year as a graduate assistant and will receive a master's degree in kinesiology this May.
In his seven years, he has been the primary contact for men's and women's cross country, women's tennis, baseball, men's golf, women's track & field and men's basketball.
