San Jose, Calif.--Franziska Friedrich, currently #157 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play women's golf at San José State University, as announced by Spartan head coach John Dormann.
Friedrich, from Heideck, Germany, brings a wealth of international tournament experience to the Spartan team. She just finished third at the 2015 German Match Play Championship last weekend, defeating Nina Lang 2 & 1. She tied for eighth at the Portugese International Ladies Amateur Championship in January.
Friedrich tied for 15th at the 2014 WPGA International Challenge and was the second-highest finishing amateur at the event. She shot a five-under 211 to tie for fifth at the Open Generali de Strasbourg in 2014. Friedrich won the 2012 French International Ladies Amateur Championship.
"Franziska is a high-level player with a tremendous amount of tournament experience. She will be a key contributor to our program for years to come," said Dormann.
Friedrich joins three others in the Spartan women's golf signing class -- Airelle Caronna, Alexandra Cooper and Cristina Glebova.
