Senior all-around gymnast Cami Guyer and junior men's golfer Cody Blick are the March Spartan Foundation Student-Athletes of the Month, sponsored by ScholarShare.
Cami Guyer had a memorable month of March for her senior season. She was named the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of Year. Guyer won three conference titles at the MPSF Championships -- winning the vault with a career-best 9.900, the floor with a 9.875 and the all-around at 39.225.
In her final home meet of her career, Guyer won the all-around with a career-high 39.350, the seventh-highest all-around score in school history. She also won the vault title with a 9.900, tying for the second-highest score in school history and one of four gymnasts in school history to record a 9.900. For her accomplishments at the meet, Guyer was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week.
Guyer was named first team All-MPSF on the vault, floor and all-around and second on the bars and beam.
Guyer qualified for the NCAA Berkeley Regional in the all-around with a 39.165 regional qualifying score.
A victory at the Bandon Dunes Championship gave Cody Blick his second win of the 2014-15 season and the fourth of his career. He opened the event with a 7-under-par 65, the lowest round since his school-record 62 in the fall.
The junior from Danville, Calif., averaged 70.8 strokes over 10 rounds during March. He opened The Goodwin at Stanford with back-to-back 66's helping him notch another top-10 finish.
Blick was San José State's top-finisher in all three of the team's events during March. It is the second Student-Athlete of the Month award of the year for Blick.
