Sutherland Ends Up 40th In NCAA West Preliminary High Jump

Austin, Texas --- San José State high jumper Emma Sutherland ended her 2015 outdoor track and field season Friday at the NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field Championships West Preliminary Meet hosted at the University of Texas.

Sutherland, from Napier, New Zealand, finished in 40th place in the high jump with a mark of 1.68 meters. She cleared the bar on her second attempt at 1.68 meters before fouling three times on 1.73 meters.

A 1.78 meter result was needed to be inside the top-12 that advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13.

SJSU triple jumper Nicole Iloanya will compete Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT, finish up the Spartans' first trip to an NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
