Junior second baseman Ozzie Braff and senior outfielder Nicole Schultz are the April Spartan Foundation Student-Athletes of the Month Presented by ScholarShare.
Junior Ozzie Braff batted .471 in 10 starts at second base for the San José State baseball team in April. The Palo Alto, Calif., native strung together four multi-hit games in a row, which was part of an eight-game hit streak. Braff tallied three hits and a couple of runs in a win over San Diego State (4/12). He contributed two hits and two RBI in the 11-inning victory at Washington State (4/16). He walked eight times to go along with 16 hits and ended April with a .581 on-base percentage.
Nicole Schultz hit four doubles and a home run on the way to a .500 batting average over 12 games during April for the softball team. The native of Las Vegas, Nev., went 12-for-16 and drove in seven runs during a seven-game hit streak. She ended the month slugging .750 and had a .600 on-base percentage. Schultz was the Mountain West Player of the Week for her contributions during the Spartans' three-game sweep of Utah State (4/17-19).
