HOOVER, Ala. – Zack Jones, a former Spartan and current member of the Chattanooga Lookouts, was named to the 2015 Southern League North Division All-Star Game.
The game was played at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., and saw Jones’ North squad come out victorious over the South team, 7-0.
This season for the Lookouts, AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the right-handed Jones has a record of 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA. The 2013 FSL All-Star is currently tied for third in the league in saves with eight and has finished 17 games for the club this year.
Jones, who played three seasons at San José State from 2010-12, was drafted in the fourth round (130th overall) of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Twins after finishing the 2012 season with the Spartans as the team leader in strikeouts with 60.
Jones also led the Spartans with seven saves and pushed his school-record career total to 22. He was named the Western Athletic Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year and was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association "Stopper of the Year" Preseason Watch List.
