Espar Llaquet Scores Again For Spain At FINA World Championships

Kazan, Russia----- For the second consecutive match, San Jose State University's Clara Espar Llaquet scored two goals in a victory by Spain in the 16th annual FINA Women's Water Polo World Championship.

The defending champion Spaniards dominated New Zealand, 23-2, in round robin competition. Spain opened defense of its championship with a 14-7 win over host Kazakhstan and is one of seven teams undefeated going into the final day of round robin play against Canada on July 30.

Espar Llaquet is one of three players on the Spanish team with four goals in the 16-team championship tournament. She is one of four from Spain to score in each of the first two matches.

Following the match with Canada, the 16 teams will begin elimination round play on August 1. The championship will be decided on August 5.
