Louisville, Ky.----- San Jose State University running back Tyler Ervin is one of 44 players named to the 2015 Paul Hornung Award Watch List.
Now in its sixth season, the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse honors the most versatile player in major college football and is managed by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.
Named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List for the second time in three seasons, Ervin was named a 2014 Sporting News honorable mention All-America. He was 13th nationally and third in the Mountain West in all-purpose running averaging 148.42 yards per game. The senior from Colton, Calif., scored touchdowns rushing, receiving and one by punt return. Three of his six touchdowns were 75 yards or longer.
Ervin holds the San Jose State career record with three kickoff returns for a touchdown and shares the school season record of two kickoff returns for a touchdown. His four punt and kickoff returns for TDs heading into his senior season matches a Spartan career mark.
The 5-foot-10, 177-pound all-purpose fifth-year player led San Jose State in rushing last season with 888 yards and a 5.6 per carry average. He also caught 29 passes for 306 yards including a 75-yard touchdown pass at Auburn which matched the longest pass play against the Tigers in 2014.
The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award Banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health, to be held at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville in February 2016.
