Portland, Ore. -- San José State University women's golfer Elizabeth Schultz shot a six-over par 150 in the first two rounds of the 115th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and missed advancing onto the match play rounds by two strokes.
Schultz, a sophomore-to-be from Walnut Creek, Calif., shot three-over par 75's in both the first and second rounds at the 6,360-yard, par-72 Portland Golf Club. In each round, she had a birdie and four bogeys.
A four-over par 148 was needed to earn a spot in a playoff for an opportunity to be in the 64-player field for the match play portion of the championship. Schultz was in a field of 156 players vying for this year's title.
This year's U.S. Women's Amateur was Schultz's second USGA championship event. In 2013, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open as an amateur while attending Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif.
San José State's women's golf season begins September 14 at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo.
