TWO MATCHES AT HOME WRAP UP NONCONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The San José State women's soccer team plays two matches at home this week: Tuesday, September 15, 4:00 p.m., vs. San Francisco, and Sunday, September 20, 1:00 p.m., vs. CSU Northridge. The two matches are the final nonconference contests for SJSU this season. Live streaming and stats are available for both matches, but we hope to see you at Spartan Soccer Field! Tickets for adults are $5 and youth 12 and under are just $3. Youth that show up in a soccer uniform get in for $1.

PROTECTING THE LEAD IS KEY
San José State drew first blood in both matches last week, but the contest against Saint Mary's College ended in a 1-1 draw, and Sunday's match at Cal Poly ended in a 2-1 loss. The Spartans have played with a lead in every match but one this season.
SJSU STAT LEADERS
Heading into this week's matches, Darriell Franklin leads the team with three goals and six points. Her most recent goal came on a PK that gave SJSU a 1-0 lead over Saint Mary's in the second half (9/11). Maricruz Chapa and Darlene Rodriguez each have two goals. Dorthe Hoppius and Rodriguez have fired 15 shots each to lead all Spartans. Rodriguez has a team-high nine shots on goal.
LOOKING TO EXTEND SCORING STREAK
San José State has scored a goal in every match this year, extending the streak to nine consecutive matches with a score dating back to last season.
THIRD DOUBLE-OT MATCH ENDS IN 1-1 DRAW
The Spartans played their third double-overtime match of the season last week, ending in a 1-1 draw with Saint Mary's College. SJSU is 0-1-2 in those matches and has taken a lead in all three.
MW STANDINGS SNAPSHOT
San José State (2-2-2) remains one of the four Mountain West teams with a record at or above .500. The Spartans are currently in fourth place behind Utah State, preseason favorite San Diego State and conference leader, Wyoming. All teams will start with a blank slate starting next week when MW play begins. The Spartans begin their conference action at Wyoming on Sept. 25.
FRANKLIN WINS MOUNTAIN WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Freshman forward Darriell Franklin (Fr., F, La Habra, Calif.) was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week for Aug. 23-30. She became the first Spartan freshman to win a conference player of the week since Mikaella Meibock in 2012. In two matches, Franklin put three out of five shots on goal and two in the back of the net.
FRANKLIN NETS GAME-WINNER IN 2-1 WIN
San José State picked up a 2-1 win on the road at Sacramento State when Darriell Franklin booted in the game-winner in the 55th minute. The came less than four minutes after Sacramento State had evened the match at 1-1. With the win, the Spartans ended a four-match road trip to open the season at 2-1-1.
TWO JC TRANSFERS MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT ON OFFENSE
Junior college transfers Samantha Orodpour (Jr., MF, Chino Hills, Calif.) and Maricruz Chapa both scored the first goals of their Spartan careers during opening weekend in Texas. Orodpour, an All-South Coast Conference honoree last year at Mount San Antonio College, put in SJSU's first goal of the 2015 season helping the team to a 3-0 win over Lamar. Chapa, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) second-team All-American at Fresno City College, put the Spartans up 1-0 in the 21st minute against Rice.

MORE ON SAN FRANCISCO
The USF Dons are out to a 5-1-2 start to the season and have a four-game unbeaten streak coming into Tuesday's match. The team has only allowed three goals the entire season, thanks in part to goalkeeper Madalyn Schiffel's 38 saves. San Francisco is dominating the Spartans in the all-time series, 11-2-3, with the last win for SJSU on September 1, 1999. Jim Millinder is in his fourth season at the helm for the Dons and has a 25-29-13 record with the program.
MORE ON CSU NORTHRIDGE
The Matadors begin the week with a 6-2-0 record. They most recently shutout Portland, 1-0, at home this past Sunday. Although they have only scored two goals in as many matches coming in, the team has a total of 17 goals in its first eight matches. Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1996. The Spartans hold a 2-0 lead over CSUN in the all-time series. Keith West is in his 10th season as CSUN's head coach.
SPARTANS PICKED SEVENTH IN PRESEASON COACHES' POLL
The voting panel of the 12 Mountain West women's soccer head coaches picked San José State to finish in seventh place this season in the preseason poll. The results have three-time defending regular-season and tournament champion San Diego State winning it all again in 2015. The Spartans received 53 points, putting them even with UNLV in seventh place ahead of Air Force, Fresno State, Colorado State and Nevada.
