Mountain West Cross Country Weekly Award Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San José State University junior Ben Branagh was named the Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his second place finish at last Friday's Fresno State Invitational.
The Belfast, Ireland native crossed the finish line at the 6K course with a time of 18:28.3. The time was nine seconds faster than what he ran at last year's Fresno State Invitational where he also finished second overall but first among collegians.
Branagh's been the top Spartan finisher in both its meets this year, finishing sixth overall in the season opening University of San Francisco Invitational. His strong start has helped the team to be ranked #14 in the West Region of the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division I regional cross country rankings.
This is Branagh's first career MW Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor.
