The San Jose State Spartans men's water polo team returned home after five weeks to split a double header, falling to the No. 1-ranked UCLA Bruin before bouncing back and shutting down the Connecticut College Camels at the Aquatic Center.

Scoring nine unanswered points to start the match, San José State couldn't be stopped as the Spartans rolled past the Connecticut Camels, 25-5, to snap an eight game losing streak.
Alek Dendall kicked of the Spartans' 9-0 run with a goal at 5:55 in the opening quarter. He found the cage again in the second and third periods for three goals against Connecticut College (0-9, 0-5 CWPA) before leaving the match with three exclusion fouls.
Leading the Spartans in the match with a season high four goals, Akos Balazs scored two in the opening period, including the final goal of the period with 43 seconds left. Balazs added two more goals in the second and fourth.
Rounding out the Spartans first-half scoring was Tyler Jamieson and Keanu Martinez with two goals each with Blake Grove, Nick Serratos and John Moon with a goal apiece.
San José State had a 12-1 lead over Connecticut College at halftime. Scoring the Camels only first half goal was Isaih Porter in the second.
Find the back of the cage for three goals in less than four minutes, Igor Miljan scored back-to-back goals as the Spartans went on a 7-1 run in the third period. Miljan has 18 goals this season.
Contributing to the Spartans second half run were Kameron Schlegel, Vladimir Kazanskiy, Martinez, Dendall and Moon. Scoring for the Camels in the third were Chase Lesniak with two goals and Porter, his second goal, as the Spartans took a 19-4 lead into the fourth.
Martinez opened the fourth scoring his third goal while Kazanskiy added back-to-back goals against Connecticut College. Kazanskiy tallied three goals for the game.
Jake Smith scored Connecticut College's final goal midway through the last period.
Scoring on a power play opportunity with 3:02 left in contest, Moon grabbed his third goal against the Camels, giving him six goals this season.
Serratos picked up his second goal and the Spartans' final goal with 1:15 left in the final period.
All three Spartan goalkeepers saw action in the cage. Adam Sandor led San José State with nine saves, Cole Williams add six and Matej Matijevic started the match picked up three.
No. 1 UCLA 10, San José State 0
Holding the top-ranked UCLA to three goals in the first half, the Spartans were shutout by the Bruins, 10-0, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action.
The Bruins' Chancellor Ramirez scored the only goal in the first period with 6:43 on the clock while Austin Rone kicked off the second with a goal at the 7:03 mark. Ryder Roberts scored on a power play with four seconds left in the half to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.
Rone and Roberts adding their second goals in the third period. Contributing to the Bruins' four goals in the third were Max Irving with a score at the 2:35 mark and Anthony Daboub, finding the back of the cage with two seconds. San José State trailed 7-0 after three.
UCLA's Spencer Farrar scored in the final period and Jack Grover closed out the contest with two goals.
Matijevic had 12 saves against the Bruins, making eight stops before halftime. Goalkeeper Alex Wolf was credited with 16 saves for UCLA.
