Perfect Game's Summer Collegiate Top Prospects
San José State's Hilario Tovar was named to Perfect Game's "Summer Collegiate Top Prospects" list for his performance over the summer.
The sophomore right-handed pitcher was listed as one of two top performers from the Central Valley Collegiate League, a wood-bat collegiate summer league in Central California with seven member clubs.
Tovar was named a first-team all-league selection and led his California Expos to the league championship.
As a freshman at San José State in 2015, Tovar appeared in 16 games, making 11 starts, and tossed 47.1 innings for the Spartans. He showed flashes of big-time potential on several occasions, most notably working 3.0 perfect innings in his first career start against Cal Poly.
