Blick Third At Price's Give `Em Five Invitational; Team Seventh After Second Round

Oct. 24, 2015

EL PASO, Texas - San José State senior Cody Blick moved up three spots to third place during the second round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational after going eight-under par during a nine-hole stretch.

The second round began on the 10th hole where Blick started slowly going two-over in the first seven holes before catching fire. Starting on the 17th hole, the Danville, Calif. native made six birdies and an eagle during the next nine holes before double-bogeying the next-to-last hole at the eighth. Blick recovered on the last hole by making a birdie to finish the day at five-under 67. The Spartan senior is nine-under for the tournament, and remains five shots behind the leader, Antoine Rozner of Missouri-Kansas City who has been in the lead in the first two rounds.

The Spartans team moved up two spots and is tied for seventh, along with UTSA and Idaho. The top four scorers for the Spartans combined to shoot a five-under 283, a three shot improvement from yesterday at the par-72, 7,307-yard Butterfield Trail course.

Senior Taylor Bromley and freshman Kevin Velo had steady rounds, both shooting one-under 71. Bromley's second round started off shaky with two bogeys in the first three holes but played the rest of the round bogey free and made three birdies. Velo's round was the opposite, playing the first nine holes, starting at the 10th, at three-under before playing the last nine in two-over par. Both Bromley and Velo are tied for 34th.

Sophomore Henrik Sohlberg was the fourth scorer for the Spartans after shooting two-over 74 with three birdies and five bogeys.

Sophomore Matthew Murray shot four-over 76 where he was hurt by two double-bogeys.

Representing San José State as an individual, Scott Munger shot one-over 73 in the second round, putting him at three-under 141 for the tournament in 19th place tie.

Kansas leads the tournament at 21-under 555, one shot ahead of Marquette and two ahead of tournament host, Texas El Paso.

The third and final round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational will conclude on Sunday with 18 holes featuring an 8:00 a.m. MT shotgun start. Fans can follow all of the round two action with live scoring updates provided by Golfstat (Team Leader Board, Player Leader Board).
