Louisville, Ky.----- For the second time in three weeks, San Jose State University running back Tyler Ervin was named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll.
The weekly honor roll recognizes college football's versatile performances and is named after the former Heisman Trophy winner and Green Bay Packers star of the 1950's and 1960's.
The 5-foot-10, 178-pound senior from Colton, Calif., accounted for 324 all-purpose yards in San Jose State's 31-21 victory over New Mexico on October 24. Ervin rushed 36 times for 263 yards and a 71-yard touchdown on the second play of the game. He also caught two passes and returned three kickoffs for the victorious Spartans, now 4-4 for the season and 3-2 in Mountain West play.
In the game, Ervin passed the 1,000-yard rushing mark and heads into San Jose State's bye week with 1,159 yards, second most among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players. He ranks second nationally in all-purpose running averaging 219.5 yards per game.
Ervin also was named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll on October 12 after the Spartans' 33-27 overtime win at UNLV.
The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is awarded annually to the most versatile college football player. The winner will be honored on February 25, 2016.
