Series history: The Spartans lead the series, 13-5-1. San José State has wins in the last five meetings between these teams including a 33-10 triumph in Spartan Stadium a year ago. The Spartans are 6-3 in games played at Sam Boyd Stadium. UNLV's last win in the series was a 23-10 victory at home on October 29, 1994.

San José State heads into the UNLV game ranked tied for 35th among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools yielding 333.0 yards per game.
Over 400 total offense yards vs. a SEC opponent:  In San José State's 35-21 loss at Auburn on October 3, the Spartans' rushed for more than 180 yards and accumulated more than 400 yards of total offense against a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent for the second time in six games against a SEC team.
473 rushing yards the last two games:  San José State has 473 rushing yards in its last two games after gaining 182 at Auburn on October 3 and a season-high 291 vs. Fresno State on September 26. The Spartans' 58 carries were the most by the program in a game since a 44-10 victory over Louisiana Tech on October 28, 2006 when the team had 58 rushing attempts. The last time San José State rushed for as many yards in two consecutive games was in 2013 when the Spartans gained 472 yards in wins over Wyoming and at UNLV. That San José State team rushed for 160 against Wyoming and 312 at UNLV.

This year's Spartans already surpassed the team's 11 rushing touchdowns in 2014 and 12 by San José State in 2013. In 2012, San José State rushed for 17 touchdowns in 13 games. After five games he is second nationally in rushing yards (801), rushing yards per game (160.2), all-purpose running yards per game (227.6) and is tied for second nationally in rushing touchdowns (10) and touchdowns scored (11). Ervin is fifth in scoring at 13.2 points per game. He scored at least one touchdown in each of the team's first five games this season. The last San José State player to score at least one touchdown in six or more consecutive games was Sheldon Canley, who scored a touchdown in each of the last seven games in the 1990 season.
