Boise, Idaho- Hana Tresnáková was the only San José State volleyball player to record double-digit kills as the Spartans fell at Boise State, 3-0, Thursday night in a Mountain West match at Bronco Gym.
Tresnáková led the team with 12 kills on 38 attempts and only four errors. Sara Hibbs and Tyanna Roy each hit .350 and had identical hitting numbers â€" eight kills on 20 attempts and only one error. Hibbs led the team with four blocks â€" one solo and three assists, while Summer Avery and Nandyala Gama each had three blocks.
Yavianliz Rosado recorded a team-best 12 digs, while Jamie Hirai added 10. Allison Meehan recorded 25 assists and two blocks for the Spartans.
Boise State hit .370 for the match. The Broncos and Spartans played it closely during the first set. The score was tied 10 times, and the lead changed four times. The Spartans got within one point at 23-22 on an Avery kill, but back-to-back kills by Bronco Sierra Nobley gave Boise State the 25-22 win.
In the second set, Boise State jumped out to a 10-5 before San José State slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the set at 16-16. However, the Broncos then scored the next 10 points to win set two 25-16.
The Broncos led the final set from the first serve, hitting .593 in the set (18-2-27) and winning 25-12. Boise State improved to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in the MW.
San José State fell to 10-8 overall and 2-3 in the MW. The team continues on the road this weekend with a match at Utah State Saturday night at 7 p.m. MDT/6 p.m. PDT.
