Versatile Canadian Club Standout Signs WIth Spartan Women's Water Polo

Nov. 21, 2015

Jacqui Maisey, a member of the Pacific Storm Water Polo Club of Vancouver, British Columbia, signed a National Letter-of-Intent to enroll at San Jose State University and join the Spartans nationally-ranked women's water polo program. Johnny Bega, San Jose State's head coach, made the announcement.

Capable of playing several field positions, Maisey is in her third year playing age-group girls water polo for one of Canada's top club teams. Pacific Storm's Under-16 team finished fifth at the 2014 Canadian National Club Championships. In 2015, Pacific Storm finished fourth in the Under-19 National Championship League tournament. She was named to the British Columbia Under-19 Youth Cup team.

"Jacqui is a well-rounded athlete with a lot to offer both offensively and defensively. She has a wealth of experience that will help our future here at San Jose State," says Bega.

Maisey is the fourth high school senior planning on joining the Spartans for the 2017 season. Previously, Amber McCutcheon of San Clemente (Calif.) High, Kathryn Elgin of Merced (Calif.) High and Caroline Kerwin of Garces Memorial High in Bakersfield accepted scholarship offers from San Jose State.
