Crawley & Schweitzer - CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII Award Winners

Based on their superb academic achievements and football performance this season, San Jose State University wide receiver Tim Crawley and offensive tackle Wes Schweitzer were voted on to the Academic All-District VIII Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Crawley, a junior from Santa Clara, Calif., majoring in business information management systems, and Schweitzer, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., majoring in biochemistry, now advance to national balloting for 2015 first, second and third Academic All-America honors. This is the first time each player earned district honors in CoSIDA's Academic All-America program.

Schweitzer is one of the Spartans' four team captains this season. His 33 career starts, including the last 32 games dating back to the 2013 season, are the most among current San Jose State players. A left tackle, he is blocks for Tyler Ervin, one of the nation's best running backs with 1,159 yards. Schweitzer is a two-time Mountain West All-Academic team selection.

The versatile Crawley plays wide receiver and also is a punt and kickoff returner for San Jose State. He is fourth on the Spartans with 25 receptions for 252 yards and one touchdown. Crawley is a two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and Mountain West All-Academic team selection and a two-time San Jose State Dean's Scholar.

To qualify for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30, be a significant player on a team, and be enrolled at the four-year institution for at least one academic year. District VIII covers schools in Pacific Time Zone, Hawaii, and Utah.
