2015 ACWPC All-American Team

Philadelphia, Pa. --- San Jose State's men's water polo goalkeeper Matej Matijevic and 2-meter defender Akos Balazs named to the 2015 men's division I All-American Honorable Mention team by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) on Friday, December 18.

Matijevic led the Spartans in the cage all season collecting 259 saves in 27 starts. The goalkeeper, a sophomore from Zagreb, Croatia, opened San Jose State's first season in 34 years with game high 19 saves in 13-7 win over the Santa Clara Broncos. Matijevic made 18 saves in two games, against California and UC Irvine, while also picking up two 15 save games.

On Tuesday, November 24, Matijevic was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Honorable Mention team, the only Spartan to receive the honor.

Appearing in all 29 games, Balazs scored nine goals for the Spartans, scoring a game high 4 goals in the San Jose State 25-5 win over Connecticut College on October 18. Balazs is a freshman from Godollo, Hungary.
