Juli Inkster Named U.S. Captain For 2017 Solheim Cup

Dec. 21, 2015

Former San José State women’s golfer Juli Inkster will look to bring home a second Solheim Cup trophy as she will return as captain for the 2017 United States Solheim Cup team, as announced by the LPGA this past Friday, December 18.

Inkster led the 2015 U.S. team to the biggest comeback in Solheim Cup history, coming back from four points behind on the final day to defeat Europe 14 ½-13 ½.

The 2017 Solheim Cup will be played at the Des Moines (Iowa) Golf & Country Club in August 2017.

Inkster becomes just the fourth U.S. team captain to serve in multiple Solheim Cups. The three others are San José State alumna Patty Sheehan (2002, 2003), Judy Rankin (1996, 1998) and Kathy Whitworth (1990, 1992).

As a player, Inkster had a 15-12-7 record in nine appearances at the Solheim Cup.
