San Jose, Calif. - Rory Knibbs, a junior striker on the San José State men's soccer team, was named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I Men's Soccer All-West Region Team on Wednesday. He earned second-team distinction.
Knibbs, a native of London, England, led the Spartans in virtually every offensive category in 2015 including goals (11), points (23), shots (60), shots on goal (30), penalty kicks (3) and game winning goals (4).
One of his highlights this year came after spotting Sacramento State two goals on September 4. Knibbs then scored three-goals in the span of seven minutes leading the team's 4-2 victory. It was the second hat trick of his collegiate career and earned him Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week honors.
A first-team All-WAC honoree following the regular season, Knibbs was third in the conference in goals, fourth in points, second in game winners.
Knibbs has led the Spartans in scoring in each of his three seasons in San Jose, totaling 28 goals in his career. He is one of 14 WAC student-athletes to be recognized as either a first, second or third team performer.
This is Knibbs' first NSCAA West Region honor.
