San José State's star freshman forward Darriell Franklin has been selected to attend the U-19 United States Women's National Team camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.The La Habra, Calif., native will begin the trip across the country on January 23 for a week-long training session with other elite players around the country under the age of 19."It was kind of unreal when I found out," Franklin said. "It wasn't something I expected. This will allow me to see how different players at a very elite level prepare for competition, and I think it will give me an advantage against some of the other younger players I'll be competing against during our season."Franklin looked like anything but a freshman last season when she blasted in a penalty kick which punched the San José State women's soccer team's ticket to the NCAA Tournament as the Mountain West champs. She was a Second-Team All-Mountain West player and an All-Tournament Team selection in 2015."Darriell is a great player and she deserves this," said Spartans' head coach Lauren Hanson. "I'm excited that she will have the opportunity to elevate her game against some of the best in the country."
