Women's Gymnastics Hosts Quad Meet This Friday

After scoring season-highs on three of four apparatus this past Sunday, the San José State women's gymnastics team returns to The Event Center this Friday, January 29, for a quadrangular meet beginning at 7 p.m.

The Spartans welcome Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Seattle Pacific, Texas Woman's and William & Mary to the gym. Below are national rankings for each team as of January 25.

Seattle Pacific has competed in three meets so far this season - at Air Force with Illinois State, at UC Davis with Boise State and last weekend at home with Sacramento State. Kristi Hayashida has led the Falcons on beam in each meet and recorded a 9.85 last week against the Hornets.

Texas Woman's has competed against some of the top teams in the country this season, Florida, Oklahoma and California, and placed second last week in a home quad meet with Air Force, Centenary and Southeast Missouri State. Sophomore Schyler Jones is the team's top all-around performer as she scored a 38.750 against Arizona on January 17.

William & Mary has competed against North Carolina, Temple and West Virginia this season. Senior Brittany Stover is the team's top all-around performer as well as vault and floor competitor.

The Spartans are coming off the team's best meet of the season with season-high scores on vault, bars and beam and a team-high 194.875 this past Sunday at Stanford. The bars team tied for the 12th-best team score with a 48.825. Individually, Marissa Unpingco scored a 9.850 on beam to tie for third.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 for adults, $5 for youth and $3 for gymnasts in club gear. Doors to The Event Center open at 5:45 p.m.
