SKILLMAN, N.J. - For the second time in program history, the San José State women's tennis team is nationally ranked in an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) computer ranking entering a dual match season.
The Spartans checked in at No. 72 in the first Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for Division I women of 2016, announced on Tuesday. San José State previously graced the poll at the outset of a season in 2014, when it opened at No. 65.
Marie Klocker landed on the preseason national singles rankings for the first time in her career, coming in at No. 90 after going 11-5 in the fall. The junior from Mulhouse, France, previously earned a preseason doubles ranking with teammate Gaelle Rey ahead of the 2014 campaign.
San José State opens its dual match season with a visit to Hawai'i on Saturday, Jan. 23, and hosts its first match on Saturday, Feb. 6, when it squares off with Santa Clara.
