Jan. 8, 2016 Senior running back Tyler Ervin and women's basketball junior guard Dezz Ramos are the December Spartan Foundation Student-Athletes of the Month, presented by ScholarShare.Ervin rushed for a game-high 132 yards on 30 carries, caught one pass and returned three punts for 98 yards and a touchdown in San Jose State's 27-16 win over Georgia State in the inaugural AutoNation Cure Bowl.His touchdown came in the second quarter on an 85-yard punt return, the sixth longest in school history and the longest during the 2015 bowl season. Ervin also proved to be an important cog in San Jose State's fourth-quarter comeback rushing 10 times for 53 yards and fourth first downs as the Spartans overcame a 16-13 deficit. In the process, he became San Jose State's single-season rushing leader with 1,601 yards.Ramos scored a game-high 24 points and led the Spartans to victory on the road at Utah State in the team's Mountain West opener on December 30. She finished the contest with seven assists and hit all nine of her free throw attempts.
